Manufacturers are eager to capitalize on the promises of smart manufacturing, especially in light of recent advancements in generative AI (GenAI) that have heightened the sense of urgency.
New capabilities are emerging in efficiency, cost reduction, innovative product design and improved sustainability. What was once considered futuristic is well within reach, and Dell Technologies is helping to lead the way.
We’re excited to share how we are empowering manufacturers with GenAI capabilities at two key events this year: Hannover Messe and Dell Technologies World 2024. During the events, we’ll showcase how modern IT solutions are changing the game for manufacturers.
New capabilities with Enterprise Edge
When considering GenAI, there are ample opportunities to innovate and streamline right where the data is born — on the plant floor. The magic happens when you can access this data faster, process it quickly and take steps to glean insights that help you take action.
That’s where Enterprise Edge comes in, encompassing a strategic solution that leverages the experience, expertise and scalability of IT to help accelerate, repeat and secure OT initiatives so they can run multiple use cases, deliver any workload and drive key outcomes for smart manufacturing. It enables manufacturers to:
- Identify, extract and gather vast amounts of “data scientist grade” data from the factory edge assets and endpoints and connect the information to a modern centralized datacenter.
- Host, process and store the data in an infrastructure that is modern, secure and scalable and that offers low response latency and data transport costs with the same level of quality and control on the plant floor that the modern datacenter has in the main office.
- Cleanse, analyze and transform the data to apply within the desired models, including GenAI, digital twin and predictive maintenance.
- Perform these processes in an accelerated and scalable way — no matter the size or scale of operations — to stay a step ahead of the competition.
Importance of partnerships
Partnerships, many of which we will highlight at the upcoming events, are key to enabling Enterprise Edge in different use cases. We are working with leading vendors to make adoption faster, easier, cost-effective and fit to purpose. Through our ISV partners, data transforms into outcomes.
The Enterprise Edge can help expand the impact of remarkable new technology innovations in areas such as GenAI, worker safety, faster connectivity with 5G and sustainability.
Showcasing solutions at Hannover Messe 2024
From April 22–26, we’ll be participating in Hannover Messe 2024 in partnership with Intel. We’re thrilled to showcase the following solutions at the Hannover, Germany event:
End-to-end Dell Technologies portfolio for manufacturing
- Complete rugged edge compute portfolio to unlock and take advantage of factory data at scale
- Scalable, repeatable, manageable and secure foundation for all use cases
- Dell validated solutions for manufacturing with top global industry partners
- Comprehensive AI/GenAI, datacenter solutions
- Multicloud, hybrid and HPC solutions
Computer vision and AI
Our computer vision solution enhances production quality and efficiency by offering quality inspection, component defect detection, inventory management and worker safety. Leveraging image processing and AI, we partner with Bosch to help manufacturers integrate their computer vision applications with existing OT systems.
Digital twins
Utilizing the no-code platform from XMPro, manufacturers can create digital twins for factory operations, which enables them to easily build, customize and manage real-time applications. The solution supports the ingestion of vast data volumes from diverse sources with real-time visualization. We’re excited to show how AI and ML models support anomaly detection, future state prediction, production optimization and recommendations.
Factory data science solution
Through the use of AI/GenAI, Enterprise Edge allows manufacturers to harness the power of data and analytics to optimize processes and outcomes. The solution offers a data and analytics layer atop OT systems, enabling manufacturers to aggregate and access data from plant floor assets and systems, including PLCs, robots, sensors, machines, and MES and ERP systems.
Digital safety for manufacturing
Enterprise Edge uses a zero-trust model to verify the identity and integrity of every device, application and user. By deploying plant-floor industrial cybersecurity and visibility studies, we enhance digital safety in industrial settings.
NativeEdge
This zero-trust, zero-touch solution simplifies the deployment and management of edge devices. The orchestration platform automatically loads software applications on edge hardware from an application library, which allows manufacturers to monitor and control devices from a global dashboard and eliminates the need for local IT.
Highlights at Dell Technologies World 2024
In addition to Hannover Messe, we’ll also be showcasing our solutions and partnerships at our own event, Dell Technologies World 2024, held at the Venetian in Las Vegas, May 20–23. At this event, we’ll highlight NativeEdge as well as:
Intelligent energy distribution
Enterprise Edge, leveraging our AI solutions and partners, enables manufacturers to conduct advanced analytics and GenAI workloads for various applications, including predictive maintenance and quality control. Importantly, it facilitates energy optimization and demand forecasting, aiding in efficient energy use and management.
Security of endpoints
We prioritize enhancing cybersecurity within manufacturing environments, collaborating with cybersecurity partner Claroty to aid manufacturers in fortifying their operations against cyber threats. Claroty’s unified platform complements existing infrastructure by offering comprehensive controls for visibility, risk management, threat detection and secure remote access, which promotes cyber and operational resilience in industrial settings.
See Enterprise Edge in action
GenAI is quickly becoming integral to manufacturing, helping create dynamic and flexible production systems and better connections between those systems and decision-making.
At Dell Technologies, we offer validated, end-to-end manufacturing edge solutions that provide speed, scalability and resiliency for smart manufacturing outcomes. We’d love to show you how it all works. Stop by Hall 15 Stand D53 at Hannover Messe, and on the Expo floor and in breakout sessions at Dell Technologies World, for a demo of what’s possible.
