Ring Container Technologies, a leader in the plastic container manufacturing industry, today announced that for the second year in a row the company received a platinum medal sustainability rating from EcoVadis, the leading platform for environmental, social, and ethical performance ratings for global supply chains. Ring has demonstrated exceptional sustainability performance, placing it in the top 1% of companies evaluated worldwide by EcoVadis.
The objective of the EcoVadis methodology is to measure the quality of a company’s sustainability management system through its policies, actions and results. The assessment focuses on 21 sustainability criteria that are grouped into various themes, including Environment and Sustainable Procurement.
Throughout the last four years, the company has continuously improved its scores, earning silver, gold, and back-to-back platinum EcoVadis medals, respectively. As an industry leader in sustainability practices, Ring’s product portfolio is 100% recyclable based on the Federal Trade Commission Green Guidelines – as they can be collected, separated, or otherwise recovered from the waste stream for reuse or use in manufacturing another item.
“This recognition underscores Ring’s unwavering commitment to operating in a socially and environmentally responsible manner,” said Brian Smith, Ring Container President and Chief Executive Officer. “Customers rely on Ring to advance environmentally responsible manufacturing and deliver sustainable solutions. This achievement showcases our continual efforts to integrate sustainability into core business strategies.”
Ring’s proprietary patented BarrierGuard® OxygenSmart™ technology, HotLock® with TRIMLITE® technology, and SmartCAN® are 100% recyclable rigid containers that can assist brands in achieving a “Widely Recyclable” designation by How2Recycle®. In 2023, Ring achieved the U.S. Plastics Pact Sustainable Innovation Award for BarrierGuard® OxygenSmart™ technology. As a member of Operation Clean Sweep, Ring also pledged to promote clean waterways, as well as pledged zero resin loss from operations.
The eighth edition of the EcoVadis Business Sustainability Performance Index explores the data behind more than 125,000 supplier sustainability ratings, with approximately 38,000 of those in 2023 alone. Through data-driven analysis, EcoVadis highlights the state of sustainability across global value chains and the progress being made by committed companies.
