GlobalFoundries tapped former Cisco executive Ashlie Wallace to be the semiconductor manufacturer’s senior vice president of global supply chain, effective Nov. 28, according to a press release.
Wallace will lead global supply chain operations which includes logistics, supply planning, sourcing and procurement to drive operational efficiency.
Wallace previously served as vice president of services supply chain and global logistics for Cisco, managing the industrial conglomerate’s global logistics operations. Outside of Cisco, she also held various leadership positions at Dell Technologies, including vice president of global server procurement and vice president of global inventory management.
“I'm looking forward to her leadership as we continue to maximize the full potential of our global manufacturing footprint that is increasingly critical to our long-term value creation,” CFO David Reeder said in a statement.
The company was one of several that announced investments in contingency to the CHIPS and Sciences Act. Along with Qualcomm, the partnership includes $4.2 billion to manufacture chips in an expansion of GlobalFoundries’ upstate New York facility.
“From a GF perspective, we will not put capacity on without customers committed to that demand,” President and CEO Thomas Caulfield said on a Q3 earnings call. GlobalFoundries is working on putting its proposal together with RFPs that will come from Washington in the early part of 2023. It’s also working with customers to “aggregate the type of demand we would need to commit to that kind of build-out,” Caulfield said.
