Electrical distribution equipment provider Sunbelt Solomon plans to open a $5 million facility in Elba, Alabama, to repair and recycle electrical transformers, the governor’s office announced last month.
The company will set up shop in an existing building, where it will install manufacturing equipment and outfit its office, according to the release. The facility is expected to be operational by June.
“Elba is the first greenfield facility we’ve built in several years, reaffirming our strategy of getting closer to our customer base while developing the human capital wherever we operate,” CEO Gus Cedeño said in a statement.
The project will initially create 50 jobs, with more anticipated as operations grow. Wages for roles offered at Sunbelt Solomon’s new facility span from $18 to $37 per hour, according to the release.
Sunbelt Solomon’s expansion plans are part of a strategy to improve its power solution offerings in the Southeast.
The Elba investment came days after the company announced its acquisition of Alabama-based Holland Industrial Services, which specializes in preventative maintenance, testing, sales and repair of industrial and commercial electrical distribution equipment.
“We’re doubling down in the state of Alabama right now,” Cedeño said. “These two substantial investments in Alabama we trust are clear signs to our customer service commitment in the Southeast for our utility, renewable, oil and gas, commercial, and industrial customers.”
